Church Closure

St Ninian's will close on Sunday August 30th

"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 8 v38-39

As you may well be aware, our church, St Ninian’s in Ferguslie Park, is to close at the end of August 2020. There is such a powerful testimony of the impact that St Ninian’s has had on so many lives and families in our community over the decades. So many of us have individual stories to tell of how God has used the people of St Ninian’s Church to positively affect us. For the congregation, so many have known this church as their family over the years, experiencing highs and lows together as we have worshipped God, laughed, cried and learned more of God’s love for us.

God has been at work in Ferguslie Park though the congregation, ministers and office bearers of St Ninians through the decades and we know that God continues to be at work in our community now and in the years to come, as His love for each one of us is the same yesterday, today and forever.

We would have loved to pack the place out to sing and give thanks together at a final service but unfortunately the current conditions mean that this is simply not possible. Following all of the appropriate Scottish Government and Church of Scotland guidelines for our safety, there will be a small, socially-distanced final service in the church on Aug 30th for a limited number of the St Ninian’s congregation, who have been contacted with the details. For others who would have wished to join us, Interim Moderator Peter Gill will live stream the final service on his facebook feed, if the technology works (

When it is safe to do so and the guidelines allow, Graham (Community Outreach Worker) and Stuart (Pioneer Minister) also plan to hold a bigger celebration in the community, when we can all come together to share and acknowledge the role that St Ninians has played in our lives and in Ferguslie Park.

God bless and as the verse from Romans at the top reminds us, nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
